How to Care for an Embroidered Racing Jacket
Teilen
An embroidered racing jacket can last for years if you treat it well. Our jackets have a polyester shell, embroidered patches and a warm full lining: here is how to look after them.
Washing
- Wash as little as possible. Airing the jacket and cleaning small marks is often enough.
- Turn it inside out and close the zip: this protects the embroidery from rubbing.
- 30°C, gentle cycle, with a mild liquid detergent. No bleach.
- For extra protection, put it in a large laundry bag.
Small stains
Dab with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap, without rubbing the embroidery. Rinse with a clean damp cloth and let it dry.
Drying
No tumble dryer: heat can damage the embroidery and the lining. Hang the jacket on a wide hanger, away from radiators and direct sunlight.
Ironing
Usually unnecessary. If you need to, iron inside out on a low setting, never directly on the patches. Placing a thin cloth between the iron and the jacket adds protection.
Storage
- Use a wide, sturdy hanger to keep the shape of the shoulders.
- Do not fold it tightly or crush it in a wardrobe, so it keeps its shape.
- Out of season, store it in a breathable cover, not a plastic bag.
A loose thread on a patch?
Never pull it. Trim it carefully with small scissors, close to the fabric.
